The idea was to create a mobile app that consolidates electricity consumption data, pricing information, and billing into one platform. They also sought to provide users with real-time insights and seamless switching between providers, and simplify energy management for households across Norway.
Our team developed a mobile app that revolutionizes energy management. The app integrates all essential data—electricity usage, pricing details, and billing. It empowers users with real-time analytics and effortless provider-switching capabilities while ensuring transparency and ease of use.
When the company approached us, they had a clear goal: to make the complex electricity market as user-friendly as possible and simplify energy management for households across Norway. Building on their existing foundation of an innovative device that allowed users to monitor real-time consumption and adjust their usage based on price changes, helping them save money and make informed decisions (a valuable feature in Norway, where electricity prices fluctuate throughout the day).
 Vibb sought to expand its role from a technology provider to an electricity supplier. So the next step was to create a digital solution that allowed users to monitor and purchase electricity. This shift marked the beginning of our collaboration.
Our first phase together focused on developing a mobile app that gave users detailed insights into their electricity usage. The app offered historical data, forecasts, and billing information—all presented in an intuitive and user-friendly way. As our partnership evolved, we helped take their offering further by adding features that empowered users to actively manage their energy consumption and optimize costs. This included smart services like automated EV charging, which identifies low-cost electricity periods and charges vehicles accordingly, and smart heating systems that adjust home temperatures based on real-time electricity prices.
From a technical perspective, we built a scalable architecture capable of supporting app’s growth. Our team developed a custom UI framework tailored to the client’s design system, enabling us to implement complex interfaces quickly without sacrificing quality. This framework also ensures consistency across all screens and allows for rapid addition of new features.  The app was built to handle three subscription categories, each offering unique benefits:
One of the app’s standout features is its ability to demystify the complex energy market for users. It provides clear explanations of why prices fluctuate, whether due to increased demand or changes in import/export volumes, and empowers users to make data-driven decisions about their energy consumption. By combining these insights with actionable tools like smart services, the app transforms a traditionally complicated industry into something accessible and user-friendly.
Throughout the project, our team worked closely with the client’s stakeholders and designers to ensure every feature aligned with their mission of making energy management simple for customers. We didn’t just execute tasks; we proactively contributed ideas that improved workflows and enhanced the overall user experience.Â
The results speak for themselves. The app changed how Norwegian households manage their electricity. Thanks to its intuitive UX and real-time responsiveness, it reduced customer service inquiries by 40%. Users praised its simplicity and transparency, earning it an average App Store rating of 4.8/5 with 92% five-star reviews. Most notably, the application was recognized as Norway's most customer-satisfied electricity provider by winning the prestigious EPSI award in 2024.
